My fiancé and I had the idea of taking the kiddos away for a two night stay somewhere over the Christmas holidays but with Ella awake every two hours we figured it would be best for all of us not to be in one hotel room for bedtime and instead took Owen on a day trip to Playdium Arcade in Mississauga. Still itching to go somewhere we decided to take a weekend away just the two of us to Mont Tremblant. There we would ski/snowboard, eat, drink and just date again! I had so much anxiety over leaving Ella and Owen but I’ve been lucky enough to have my Mother here almost every week to visit and I knew the little ones would be in good care.
The first night we arrived we stayed in our comfys and toured around the village where we were staying. We ate a lot of poutine, hung out by the outdoor fires, had a couple drinks at the pubs and danced the night away. The following day we got up early and for me it was like sleeping in since I didn’t have to get up with little Ella (so nice!). We ate some fantastic baked eggs for breakfast at Casey’s in the Village and then went on to ski. When we got to the top of the mountain, I was so captured by all the beauty around us. It was a slow way down the mountain as all I wanted to do was take photos. I had forgotten just how breathtaking Mont Tremblant was and we were so lucky to have the best weather while we were there; the skies were incredibly blue! We spent the rest of the day going down different sides of the mountain until around dinner when the cold started to creep on. When we returned we had a nice hot tub surrounded by snow then started to get dressed for dinner. We first went to Samurai Sushi Pub for an appetizer of sushi and some Sake. A short stroll past the village shops and we stopped for dinner at Wok for some yummy Thai food. Both were absolutely delicious! It was so nice to be able to dine steps away from your hotel room. On our last day, we did a little shopping and looked for souvenirs for the kids, then grabbed some pizza at the pizzeria before heading home.
While in Tremblant, there were many times when I said to Rick how nice it was to be there with him… no distractions, nowhere we had to be. We had the opportunity to really enjoy each other, laugh and have fun together, date again and to feel those butterflies! There were a few times when I looked at him and I felt realllllly lucky. It was a good reminder to myself that even with all the distractions in life, it is still important to take time to appreciate each other.
If you’re looking for a romantic getaway Mont Tremblant is the perfect place to go, especially if you want to take advantage of Canada and embrace the cold…for a weekend. ;)
