From the moment the doormen greet you and open the doors to the beautiful lobby at the Fairmont, Mont-Tremblant , you know you are in good company. The welcome that meets you at the door is echoed by the registration staff who charge the concierge with ensuring your bags are safely delivered to your rooms. Taking care of the details of arrival, the staff of the Fairmont invite you to feel taken cared for—to feel right at home.

We found our rooms at the Fairmont to be spacious, bright, beautifully appointed and spotless. Though virtually invisible, the housekeeping staff continually surprised us by keeping our rooms clean and tidy. Not only were linens and towels changed, bathrooms cleaned, and living area vacuumed daily, our clothes were folded and fresh robes provided every day. Even with a 6 year old in tow, our room was always spotless and we joked about trying to offer our housekeeper double the pay if she would come home with us:)!

Allowed to be on our own schedule, we found we were able to sleep in and get up and out as we pleased. We appreciated that there was no rush to get out of the room so that it could be cleaned by someone’s deadline. Our son could wake with the sun and watch kids TV until we got up. Once we were all dressed, we headed off to a buffet filled with everything you could possibly want for breakfast. I had my own pot of coffee, Rick had his favourite espresso, and Owen informed us that he had “the best hot chocolate” he had ever tasted! We indulged in everything from fruit, pastries, smoked meats, cheeses, and handmade breads and pastries, to Eggs Benedict, omelettes, bacon, baked ham and homestyle baked beans. There was something for everyone that was healthy and delicious. What a great way to start the day!

After breakfast we enjoyed activities together. There was lots to chose from— golfing, canoeing, wall rock climbing, hiking, trying out the luge, or the trampoline. Rick and I are huge at competing—and there was that in everything—but the fun part always won out for the big kids we are, at heart.

As a family, we also took the Gondola up to the top of Mont-Tremblant and did some hiking. The views were incredible—just as we had seen during our winter vacation there. No matter the season, everywhere you looked, there was another fantastic view to see!

Coming back to the hotel after the adventures of the day, we were treated to dinner by Chef Eric Beaupre. It was a lavish, five course meal. Amazing! Just to be fair to all ages and tastes, it was also offered to Owen, but he went with his favourite one course meal—steak and vegetables! We started off our dinner with Imperial duck confit with marinated vegetables and a peanut sauce followed by our second course of Red lentils soup, sweet potatoes and crisp oyster mushrooms. Next, we were served Beef Tartare with Quebec’s salted herbs, blueberries infused with Chic Choc spiced rum, pickles, sriracha sauce served with a Quail’s egg and a balsamic and mustard seed mayonnaise. For our 4th course we were served Roasted Lake Brome duck filet, mushrooms, candied potatoes and Feu Sacré des Lacroix cider sauce. And last but not least, we were served Dessert. Our Dessert board included Passion fruit jelly squares,Coconut rice pudding, popcorn and Maple fudge. Wine parirings for each course were Syrah, Côtes du Rhône, Famille Perrin, Réserve, France Napa Valley, Beaurouge, Beaulieu Vineyard, É.-U

What a finish to our day! I was already raving about our meal and we had not even left the dinner table. Even Rick, who never gets excited about food, was all smiles. He really enjoyed it too! It was a great way to start our food experience in Mont-Tremblant and made for my favourite meal of the weekend.

As each day came to an end, we either sat by the fire or threw on our bathing suits and relaxed in the heated pools. With stars above, forests surrounding, and beauty everywhere, it was easy to relax, reminisce and dream.

Our stay at the Fairmont was a family vacation we will never forget. We hope to make a return visit, not only in the winter and summer, but enjoy it all year round.

Our thanks to Tremblant Resort Associations for our stay. C’était manifique!
